Will Hill

Will is a typographer, designer, graphic artist and writer.


Emeritus Associate Professor of Graphic Design at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge where, until his retirement in 2021, Will led the Masters programme in Graphic Design and Typography.

He has written and published on typography, type design and related subjects, and presented at conferences including ATypI, Typecon, International Conference on the Image and IAWIS. His essays, articles and reviews have appeared in journals including Parenthesis, Print, Slanted and Ultrabold. He is author of The Complete Typographer (2003, 2010) and co-author of Art and Text (2010). His most recent publication is Space as Language: the properties of typographic space, a mini-monograph in the Cambridge University Press ‘Elements’ series.

Graphic and print-related projects are his current focus as well as an ongoing collaboration with the sculptor Harry Gray on site-specific sculptural installations.

Will has an MA in Typeface Design from the University of Reading.
