Rosalind Wyatt

Rosalind Wyatt initially trained in Calligraphy and Bookbinding at Roehampton University; she then went onto study mixed media, Constructed Textiles at the Royal College of Art.

Having set up studio in 2001 she has exhibited widely in galleries throughout the UK including with Carina Haslam and John Martin Gallery in London. The collages are of textile and paper with a strong calligraphic element – the inspiration for which is always a philosophic or poetic text. Other more commercial commissions include brush calligraphy doors for The Dorchester’s hotel, Coworth Park alongside calligraphy for companies such as GAP, BURBERRY, HOGAN, SWAROVSKI and film and TV. Recent work includes the series ‘the Stitch Lives of others’ which incorporates antique garments onto which she has ‘trans-sewn’ letters to tell the story of the wearer a technique which involves ‘writing with a needle’. Zen brush calligraphy is a strong part of her artistic practice of which she also runs workshops, following a travel grant for a month’s visit to Japan in 2006.
