Ros Pritchard

In the 70’s I worked in hospitals as a medical illustrator, then prepared documents as props for film and TV overnight while my sons were small, and was subsequently employed in a Shepperton Film Studios workshop.

This prompted me to study calligraphy seriously, working freelance to pay for tuition mainly by Fellows of The Society of Scribes and Illuminators. Design for print, formal and private commissions, plus further film work morphed into a solo venture ‘Things Handwritten’ in 1986.

Remaining intrigued by handwriting, both ancient and modern, and using the same rules for its analysis as for formal scripts or any other lettering, I find it possible to learn most ‘hands’ given time, with film rather than forgery my intention.
