Pieter Boudens
I am a three legged letter carver, one foot in the English stone lettering tradition (through John Skelton and David Kindersley), a second in Germany (I started my lettering study under Sepp Jakob) and my third in France through my intense contacts with Jean-Claude Lamborot. I have combined all these influences.
In 1979 I started as the first letter carver of the ‘new style’ in Belgium*, and paved the way for younger generations with an interest for lettering in stone.
*in contrast with our traditional stonemasons who also apply letters, but without a special interest for the subtleties of their design and composition.
