Michela Antonello

Based in London, Michela is a professional calligrapher and a Fellow of the Society of Scribes & Illuminators as well as the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society.


Michela is a calligrapher and linocutter who specialises in Books of Remembrance and formal ecclesiastical commissions.

She originally studied calligraphy via correspondence with Gaynor Goffe before completing the University of Sunderland Calligraphy with Design Foundation Degree in 2012. She has been an Associate Member of Letter Exchange since 2006 and elected to Full Member in 2026, is a Fellow of the Society of Scribes & Illuminators as well a Fellow and former Chairman of the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society.

Regular clients include the Royal British Legion, The King’s Household Division, the Royal Society, various Worshipful Companies, as well as charities, churches and galleries across London. Accepts commissions also in Cyrillic alphabets.

Her personal work consists mainly of lino-lettercuts printed on handmade papers or reindeer vellum and mounted on wood, placing a focus on patterns and interdisciplinary connections.
