Gaynor Goffe

The flow of the edged pen on paper has kept me engaged with calligraphy for 45 years. Trained at Reigate School of Art & Design (RSAD) in the 1970s, followed by 3 years as calligraphy assistant to Donald Jackson, I then taught on the Roehampton Institute calligraphy courses throughout the 80s and 90s, followed by 3 years teaching at Reigate School of Art & Design( RSAD).

Calligraphy teaching has taken me to the U.S. Japan and several European countries as well as many U.K venues. I am a longstanding Fellow of the Society of Scribes & llluminators and Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society (CLAS), receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000 from CLAS. MY typeface ‘Hamada’ was produced by Linotype in 2007. As well as commissions, my calligraphy work for exhibition focuses on texts relating to natural landscapes sometimes incorporating collage with stone. I run a wide variety of calligraphy correspondence courses.
